Appropriate care of your wig will keep it looking new and at it’s best. You may prefer to have more than one wig, not only for alternating your hair styles, but to allow you time for cleaning and drying.
Special care for Synthetic Wig:
- Do not use any human hairsprays on synthetic wigs unless it is in pump form.
- There are special hairsprays and gels available specifically formulated for synthetic wigs.
- Use a soft padded vent brush, pick or wide tooth comb to style synthetic wigs so they do not frizz or tear.
- For wigs with a tight curl, do not brush, use fingers and gently remove tangles.
- Do not heat any kind on synthetic wigs such as: curling iron, hot rollers, hot water, or steam which will cause wigs to loose natural style.
Use your best judgment about when to wash your wig. Washing is recommended about every 8th time you wear it. This may depend on how often you wear your wig and if your wig picks up environmental smells, smoke, perfume etc. When time comes you can buy certain wig shampoos the cheapest and easiest are liquid laundry detergent or baking soda. However, we recommended you to use shampoo and conditioner for wigs which contain less chemicals as well as alcohol these products are especially formulated for wigs.
For Synthetic Wigs Wash:
To wash your synthetic wigs, follow these simple instructions.
- First look at your wig, notice any tangles or teasing; in addition, notice where the front line split has been made.
- Gently brush out tangles or teasing to wig and turn wig inside out.
- Use a larger container or filled sink half way with lukewarm water to be able to submerged wig into. Do not use hot water or it will remove body wave and may damage its synthetic fiber.
- Swish it gently, do not rub. Apply approximately one tablespoon of wig cleaner or shampoo.
- Rinse 3 or 4 times to make sure that the shampoo are completely rinsed out.
- You may apply conditioner to smooth out fibers, allow the fibers to absorb the conditioner for 2min. and gently allow water to flow throw your hair wig.
- Wrap the wig in a towel and gently pat out excess water carefully.
- You may place your wig on stand to dry at room temperature; another example is to use a doorknob in the bathroom with a towel under it.
- NEVER BRUSH WIGS WHEN WET! As tempting as it may be, wigs are for the most part fragile when wet and you may loose a great amount of hair or style if you brush when wet.
- When completely dry, lightly mist wig luster and simply brush gently layer by layer into your desired style. If your wig is short just shake out to make the style.
Please do not panic... all wigs look like dog hair when wet!
For Human Hair Wig Washing Instructions:
- Use a larger container or filled sink half way with lukewarm water to be able to submerge wig into.
- Apply approximately one tablespoon of wig cleaner or shampoo, along with one tablespoon of baking soda. Baking soda acts as cleaning booster and will usually cut through the heaviest make-up. Notice the tag which will indicate the back of the wig so you can take time on the frontline area of wig, where make-up residue is conman to be, or the cap of wig (you may use an old toothbrush gently to scrub out make-up).
- Rinse 3 or 4 times with lukewarm water to make sure the shampoo is completely out.
- After you have rinsed out shampoo, dissolve 1 or 2 tablespoons of conditioner in water throughout your wig. Conditioner is highly recommended to decrease tangling. Rinse with fresh water and allow water to flow throughout your wig.
- Lay your wig on a towel and gently pat out excess water and leave it to dry.
For Setting Human Hair Instructions:
- When dry, comb out gently layer by layer. Usually start at the bottom and work your way up. If you are working on a long wig, start combing out the hair at the ends and work up to the strand of roots.
- When restyling, set in rollers if desired and place under hood dryer, or leave to dry overnight. If rollers do not hold in tight enough, use some setting spray and leave to set for 24 hours. Once dry, take out rollers and style the wig as desired.
For Styling Human Hair:
- Hot curling irons, blow driers, and flat irons can be used only on 100% human hair wigs just as same as you would on regular hair.
- Do not use those on human-synthetic blended wigs.
- Do not let the iron get too hot or it will damage the synthetic fiber.
Caution: materials used in your wig cap are vulnerable to heat. Take pro-caution when using those irons or driers.
Keep in mind a good indication of when the iron is too hot for the synthetics-blended wigs is, instead of curling the fiber, hair appears straight and limp when you remove the iron. In the worst case, the fiber melts and frizzes or disintegrates.
Too much heat can also make the fiber appear frizzy because it damages the fiber. The bottom hairline is an area that needs extra caution when using a curing iron on any synthetic or blended wigs. If the iron gets too hot when working with human-synthetic blended wigs, mist the barrel of the iron with water to cool it down.
